Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a UDR and a UDS file?

A UDR (Universal Document Record) is a revisable, unlocked draft. A UDS (Universal Document Seal) is a cryptographically signed, immutable record. Modifying content blocks in a UDS file invalidates the seal immediately.

Do I need a special app to open .uds.html files?

No! That is the core feature of the technology. Any modern web browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge) can open and render .uds.html files natively. They are completely self-contained.

How does tamper-detection work?

When the document is created, each content block gets a unique ID and a computed hash. When the file is sealed, these hashes are signed. The viewer recalculates the hashes client-side and validates them against the signature.
